The Last Week...

This week has been a little crazy at our house, but I think I have been saying that since November. This is the last week of basketball for me. Well, Pretty much anyway...Next week the Varisty has practice and then Regional on Tuesday night. I will be going to both of those, but its my last week with the JV Team. We are sitting at 10-11 for a record right now. Friday night is our last game of the season (we play Marshall)...I would really like to finish 11-11...500 on the season would be very nice. I guess we will see. As the season winds down I am looking forward to getting back to a more "normal" schedule. I am excited that it's getting nicer outside, and I can spend time with the kids outside playing at night. It will be nice to come home and not have to run to practice or a game. On the other hand, I am going to miss the girl's, and the competition! Coaching is one of those things that you don't do for the money, you do it because you love it. There are always ups and downs, there is drama, but in the end you get to work with a great group of kids, and get to be around a game that you love. I will miss basketball every night, that feeling I get when I teach them how to do something they didn't know before, watching the smile on one of your players faces when they drain a 3 pointer, or hit a big shot, the excitement when they get a block, or when the team gets a huge defensive stop. I will miss how boy crazy they can be, thier senses of humor, and how much they care about each other. But I guess that is what bring you back for more...If you didn't miss it, you wouldn't want to do it again next year!

I know I am going to get emotional after our game on Friday night! I hope that the girl's enjoyed the season as much as I did. Basketball is not everyone's favorite sport. It takes work...You can't be lazy, you have to be smart, and you have to be in shape. It can be a passion...a passion that gets in your blood. It's been a great year, and the passion is still in my blood. I can't wait to watch my players play on Varsity next year, and see them mature, and develop as players. Now we can start looking forward to spring, and start speculating about next year team...
